Yard of Month

October 2021 – Judy and Charlie Massey

October has arrived and we really have a yard to fall for! With the continued challenges of the pandemic, we are so grateful for our neighborhood, our wonderful neighbors and their beautiful yards! This month we honor the hard work of gardeners Judy and Charlie Massey at 7615 Mauna Kai Dr., tucked away on a cul-de-sac off Muirfield Lane.
Large live oaks provide an overstory for this lovely green lawn, accented by sunshine ligustrum, photinia red tip shrubs, festive autumn decorations and bright floral blooms. Drive or stroll over to this section of Hearthstone to see a yard that celebrates the season with abundance and joy.

September 2021 – Judie and Ridge Stockdale

It is anything but the “dog days of summer” at 7806 Sapphire Valley Rd. the home of Judie and Ridge Stockdale.   This front yard proves that any space can appear to be cool and inviting when it is full of color and textures, with a variety of different shade-loving plants.  Your eye follows the meandering cobbled path which traverses the yard, passing emerald turf and old oaks.  The bordering flower beds are overflowing with impatiens in bright jeweled-toned colors.  Tropical palms give the beds that extra height it needs to look stunning.

August 2021 – Debra and Freddie Yaggi

This month’s Yard of the Month, the home of Debra and Freddie Yaggi, 7919 Alamar Dr., exemplifies simplicity and repetition of form.  It evokes a solid soothing calm as the circular drive beckons you.  Stacked stone beds utilize similar colors and plants. Alternating shades of green and golden coleus seem to cool down summer’s heat.  Shaded by the towering oaks, the shrubs and Crepe Myrtles add height as the perfect final touch to the landscape.

July 2021 – Pat and John Despain

All the summer rain showers couldn’t drown out the beauty of this yard by Pat and John Despain! A picture perfect lawn at 15202 Chimney Hill Circle with an overstory of oak trees and colorful crepe myrtles make the perfect backdrop for the centerpiece of this yard: caladiums. An abundance of green, white, pink and red caladiums in all sizes give this yard a beautiful and unique tropical vibe.

June 2021 – Rhonda and Jim Gaskamp

Summer sunshine and a bit of rain gave this yard by Rhonda and Jim Gaskamp at 14939 Inverrary Drive a perfect palette of jewel tones! Lush emerald turf is highlighted by sunshine ligustrums, pearl-white and ruby-red begonias and the sweetest little gem Magnolia tree. Much labor and love went into this yard and it shows!

May 2021 – Rita and Gary Lindenberger

Spring has brought out the warm weather, a few rain showers and all the blooms! Beautifully landscaped with lush green turf, the home of Rita and Gary Lindenberger at 7518 Holly Court Estates Dr. celebrates all things spring with lots of color and a tapestry of plants. Large oaks overlook beds of vincas, petunias, boxwood, foxtail ferns, sago palm, cock’s comb and more.

April 2021 – Kathy and Dee Williams

April has brought pollen, warmer weather and new life to the yards of Hearthstone! April’s Yard of the Month winner Kathy and Dee Williams of 7418 Tunbury Lane features outstanding bedding plants; including azaleas, hydrangeas, snapdragons, begonias, petunias, pansies, marigolds and hibiscus. Oaks and pine trees give a nice cover story. The array of color on this one is not to be missed!

March 2021 – Teresa and Dan Reissig

March is here and spring is in the air! After the devastating winter storm and hard freeze, the Yard of the Month committee had a difficult adventure to find a yard with something green and growing. Yard after yard was brown, barren and withered by the freeze… until our quest brought us to 14310 Scotney Castle St., home of Teresa and Dan Reissig! Packed with feathery evergreen juniper bushes, neatly trimmed holly shrubs and expertly manicured boxwood: This yard is not only alive but thriving! The combination of freeze-hardy shrubs was enhanced by bright flower beds of color: Tulips, pentas, petunias, snapdragons and dusty miller. Scotney Castle is an easy street to overlook; it’s a small cul-de-sac off Blenheim Palace Ln. and our winner’s yard is tucked into a corner, but this is a yard worthy of pursuit!

February 2021 – Silvia Ascension and Preston Yaggi

February is a month for love and what could be more lovely than Hearthstone’s Yard of the Month? Located in the Betty Brown section (and just across the street from last month’s winner!), the home of Silvia Ascension and Preston Yaggi at 14810 Bluffridge Circle has much to delight in. Love is in the air with African iris, bird of paradise, alyssum, pansies, cherry dianthus, sago palms and beautiful trees and a carpet of green. This yard has lovely beds with lots of color and texture, don’t miss the chance to see this one!
